Becoming Bear

Many people ask me about the name Spirit Bear Rising, where did the name come from? What does it mean? And so on. I realized that this is a story in itself and one I have not done such a great job of telling. So here goes...

From very early on I have always been a nurturer, protector, strength, courage, and 'mama bear'. Well before I had my own child, I was mothering those around me but this is not just the only aspect of Bear medicine. Bear is strength, confidence, leadership, healing, solitude, rest, and grounding.

I didn't identify Bear as being a significant animal totem in my life. Early in my spiritual journey, I would see Hawk, Peregrine and Eagle but they were simply offering perspective, intuitive sight and instinct. It wasn't until I joined a group to journey that I met Bear.

The drumming began as I laid in circle and completely skeptical that I could even journey, I set the intention to just surrender into whatever would happen. I was met by a Doe who guided me deeper into the underworld. I started to question the whole thing but was reminded to just surrender! So I did. When I arrived deep into the belly of this world we were asked to step face-to-face with our animal and before I could think a massive, ferocious grizzly bear came rearing her head at me!! She stood on her two hind legs towering over me, her arms stretched above her head and she let out this ROAR. And within that moment I felt challenged by her - Will you join or cower she taunted? Will you hide or face me?

Without even thinking about what I was doing or what was happening, I instinctively jumped up and grabbed her head and pulled her down into my chest in a headlock. It was in that moment I felt the true power of her harnessed within me and we became one entity. She merged into my belly, my heart, my soul and I realized she was me. I was challenging myself to RISE up and be the Bear. I was challenging myself to be seen fully for who I was and as I became one with Bear, I was accepting that challenge. Things could never be the same after that and I felt it. I knew it.

I had become Spirit Bear Rising - the spirit of bear rising into who I was and what I represented. I was bear medicine, ready to nurture, heal, and be the strength or courage for others in their time of need. Ready to be a leader and face adversity and to face action without fear. It was time to show the world my power and who I truly was.

What are you stepping into today? What fears are you harnessing so you can Rise? Don't be afraid to become one with it, for in your fears you find your desires 💖

Making Wishes With The Aries New Moon

New-Moon-Aires

Our new moon is the perfect time to plant your seeds, make wishes, and send out to the Universe all the things you hope and dream for. This is not a time to think small, THINK BIG! Very Big and don't be shy about asking for what it is YOU want for a change. New Moons are the most powerful times in our moon cycle to manifest.

On April 16th will fall under the sign of Aries and is our first New Moon in the 2018 Astrological Year. This is an important moon to be working with and if you choose to not work with new moon energy, try at least to harness this one!

Aries will be asking you to set realistic goals that promise new beginnings and a fresh start for the year ahead. What commitments can you make to yourself in order to reach these aspirations? The time for positive change in your life is right now.

So how do you get started? Here are some ways I like to work with the New Moon:

  1. Setup an Altar

    • Bring in plants like sweetgrass to add more sweetness in your life and sage to help cleans and clear yourself, your space and objects.
    • Add crystals like tigers eye, moonstone, amazonite, and labradorite all of which are great stones to work with to evoke new beginnings and change.
    • Add sacred objects that have some significant importance for you.
    • Add objects that represent your wishes and or things you want to attract into your life.
    • White candles to help illuminate your dreams and wishes. Red candles to ignite fire and energy.
  2. Cleanse & Clear

    • Using sage clear yourself, your space and objects
    • Take a few deep breaths after you've cleansed
  3. Create - Write, Draw & Get Visual With Your Wishes

    • Create a list of the things you want - Get as visual as you can with these things. Use colour, vision boards, stickers, drawings, etc to bring these things to life.
    • When you are done, take a moment to soak in your work, words and vision. Really send intention to each one and allow your imagination to elaborate on each one in your minds eye.
    • Affirm your wishes by chanting "OM NAMO NARA YANI" which means "I surrender to the Divine Mother."
  4. Affirm & Commit

    • Come up with an affirmation or two that can support your wishes and reinforce the intent behind them. TIP: always start your affirmation statement with "I am..."
    • Write a commitment statement that will backup your affirmation and wishes. What actions can you put into place tomorrow, in a week or in a few months that will bring your wishes to life?
  5. Meditate to Release

    • Take a few mins after your work to meditate on your work and ask the Universe and your Guides to take them.
    • Releasing attachment to your wishes allows them to grow - Just like a farmer will plant his seeds and walk away, you too must be like the farmer.

Affirm your Release by chanting "OM"

Over the next 14 days as we near the Full Moon cycle, FOCUS on your intention and commitments. Work with your crystals and altar to again focus and affirm what it is you want. Take deliberate steps towards achieving your goals and surrender into the flow of the Universe. What will be will be for your highest and best good. The Divine will create the opportunities and timing needed for you now. Trust and have faith.

Always remember to release attachment and keep saying to yourself "This or something better now manifests for me."

Dec 18 New Moon in Sagittarius Ritual

When preparing your ritual for any New Moon the phrase to consider is this, "What life do I want to create?" The key is to plant your seeds, think about what it is that you want, and use strong visualizations or even draw.

nmsag21114.jpeg

The New Moon on Dec 18th marks our last new moon of 2017 and is most important as these seeds will be the actions we manifest at the start of 2018. Our moon is in Sagittarius which is asking us to meditate on the meaning of all we've experienced, what did we uncover below the surface and can we go deeper in 2018? Now is a great time to get away, perhaps study something new you've been curious about, search for more meaning, laugh and live more lightly, and of course express gratitude. These can all guide and shine light on the things that are most important for you now and that which you want more of in 2018.

The recommended ritual for our new moon is as follows:

  1. Start by cleansing and clearing yourself, those who are in your circle and your space. You can smudge with sage, use a sage spray, or even bring in sound to clear the energy from anything negative or lower vibrational.
  2. Light 3 candles - One for Past, one for Present and one for Future.
  3. Now take a few deep breaths and as you inhale, inhale gratitude and exhale any concerns you might be having. Feel each breath entering as white light that represents Peace and Gratitude and exhale any fear, negativity or worry. Do this three times.
  4. Begin by writing, visualizing or drawing your top 10 Wishes. Decide if these are things you can commit to in the weeks to follow and truly see yourself attaining them.
  5. When you are done, go through your wishes one-by-one, continuing to breath in your wishes and see how they feel. You can make any adjustments at this time.
  6. Now create an intention or commitment that will send strength and power to your wishes. Really back them up!
  7. RELEASE! In order to send power to your wishes, we must release them. You can do this in various ways - Burn your list, rip it up, or place it in a bowl of water. However, you may keep your list to reference it as we get closer to the Full Moon, but invoke the notion that you have released it and are ready to welcome in that which is for the good of all and what is best for you.
  8. Before closing your ceremony turn to your candles and either write down or visualize what you have learned in the Past which you are grateful for, what beauty are you beholding in the present? And in turning to your future candle repeat the chant "This or something better now manifests for me, under grace in perfect ways."
  9. Blow out your candles sending grace and gratitude out into the ethers, sending love and forgiveness to all those around you. Breath in gratitude and exhale any negativity.
  10. Finish off your ritual by repeating this chant 3 times - OM NAMO NARAYANI, "I surrender to the Divine Mother"
New+Moon+in+Sagittarius.jpeg

You can leave any objects, notes or drawings under the New Moon energy following your ritual for about 24 hours. Go forward and commit to working on achieving your wishes and in a day or two, perform a meditation to invoke your wishes asking for further advice on how to bring them to life or if they still feel relevant.

Perform this ritual the day before the new moon, on the day of the new moon or one day after. These times will ensure you are harnessing the maximum power of the moon, but know that anytime you perform ritual you are committing to your self growth and that is just as important.

Many Moon Blessings

Full Moon Forgiveness Ceremony

On the night of the Full Moon, you can perform this Forgiveness Ceremony. You can create your list in advance of those people, things or situations which have felt wrong to you or have harmed you. If you have not been especially nice to yourself, then add you to this list.

The following recommended steps are sourced from the book Moonology by Yasmin Boland. Anyone interested in working with the phases of the moon, I would recommend picking up a copy.

  1. Take a few deep breaths and always clear/cleanse yourself, those around you and your space before any ceremony or ritual.
  2. Now think about a habit, thought pattern, or an idea that has upset you and you want to release.
  3. Next, think of anyone who has upset you and list their names along with writing down what they did. This is now your forgiveness list.
  4. Close your eyes and visualize each person in turn. See them inside a pink bubble in your mind's eye (pink is the colour of love). See them smiling at you. Create a good feeling between you and this person. Say silently or out loud "I forgive you", then let them float off in their bubble. Do this for each person on your list.
  5. Now recite the following Full Moon Forgiveness and Karma Release formula:
    • Under the glorious Full Moon, I forgive everything, everyone, every experience, every memory of the past or present that needs forgiveness. I forgive positively everyone. I also forgive myself of past mistakes. The Universe is love, and I am forgiven and governed by love alone. Love is now adjusting my life. Realizing this, I abide in peace.
  6. Finally, burn your forgiveness list. Please be safe - burn over a sink, caldron outside, or fire pit outside. This ritual releases the energies into the ether of transmutation into love.
GeminiFullMoon

The importance of Gratitude

By performing the ritual above, and writing your forgiveness list, you're releasing resentment, so you need to replace it. Gratitude is the ideal quality to replace resentment. It increases your vibration, so you will be happier, and the higher and clearer your vibration, the better able you will be to manifest in two weeks' time when the New Moon rolls around.

Happy Moon Blessings

When we have nothing left but vulnerability

I've had an interesting week... people around me have had an interesting week - the world has had an interesting week. I'm a firm believer of karmic debt, but as well, this moon phase is especially altering.
-
The entire path before me changed Monday morning. And I've found it really hard to connect this week and really hard to complete my Hunter/Harvest Moon Ritual. I spent the last hour or so downloading the incredible words of Brene Brown who studied extensively the cause and effects of Vulnerability, Shame, Blame and Empathy. And I realize that it's exactly what I needed tonight to release, heal and move forward in my new journey. Which is exactly the purpose of most Moon Rituals.
-
So here's a bit of a story about me... my entire life I have faced every one of those things - Blame, Shame, Vulnerability, and Empathy. I have looked addiction in the eyes, I have been abused by many including those I allowed my heart to love, I have experienced excessive weight gain and excessive weight loss, I have been told to be many things, but who I am and so I created the "perfect" me I could be to fit in. I struggled with this for years. Until the Universe had other plans or perhaps my Spirit Tribe had had enough of seeing me not honouring my true self and things happened. My world began to crumbled. The me I had created began to fall - bad. And I was being pushed out of the very existence I worked so hard to create. But it also forced me to begin a new journey to discover myself again - to go back within my core and reawaken those things that truly made me happy, that truly felt authentic. I began to look deeper and shine light on my shadows, my insecurities and above all Shame, Blame and Vulnerability.
-
I am telling you this because I practice everything I preach. We continually face dark moments in our lives and it's our inner wisdom, our intuitive knowing as well as faith in our spiritual practice (whatever that may be for you) that can help us get through the most trying of times. And tonight my voice said - be gentle, you don't have to do anything that does not resonate, heal in the way that honours your soul. And so I did. I needed the words of Brene Brown to help me understand that I have learned to LOVE myself by being Vulnerable, I have learned to HEAL myself by understanding that I have NOTHING to be ashamed of, and I unapologetically don't blame myself for anything that may have happened in the past 30 odd years or even past week. I will step into whatever arena I choose and be 100% vulnerable because that is not weakness, that is COURAGE. It is the act of letting ourselves be seen and being honest. So if I walk away from my experience this week and know I am honouring myself vulnerably, then I am living authentically. And if I am living authentically, then I loving everything that I am. All will be well and the Universe will have my back, because that is my faith and what I trust... and let me say this - things... are... happening! :D
-
Please if you have 20 mins, watch this, especially if it resonates with what you are experiencing right now. I know it can help. I am also here to listen, support and love you for all your vulnerabilities :) I promise you that <3

https://www.ted.com/talks/brene_brown_listening_to_shame…

"If we're going to find our way back to each other, vulnerability is going to be that path. And I know it's seductive to stand outside the arena, cause I think I did it my whole life, and think to myself I'm going to go in there and kick some ass when I'm bullet proof and when I'm perfect. And that is seductive. But the truth is, that never happens. And even if you got as perfect as you could and as bulletproof as you could possibly muster when you got in there, that's not what we want to see. We want you to go in. We want to be with you and across from you. And we just want, for ourselves and the people we care about and the people we work with, to dare greatly." ~ Brene Brown, last few mins of this TedTalk.

Giving Thanks & Ways to Give Back

n-VOLUNTEER-HAPPY-628x314.jpg

I have been struggling lately with a lot of the news and world events. Each week a new tragedy or life altering event occurs for those either around me or outside my community and each time this happens, the first call to action is to give money. People urging you to support GoFundMe campaigns or giving to local charities to support relief efforts. And each time I see this I feel incredibly guilty, sad, helpless, and less empowered, because I don't have a lot of money. Even giving $5 each time something happens in our world could impact my ability to support my family.

I know many of you can relate - do I give to the Las Vegas fund (for example) to support the hundreds affected or feed my child? It seems selfish right? The voice in my head screams out - "How can you not afford $5, are you that hard-done-by? People are dying while you sit and have dinner as a family and you can't give them $5?" This is my struggle. I sit privileged hoping one day to never have to reach out for money from anyone, but I have not given one dollar to those in need.

I'm done feeling hopeless and helpless. There are ways we can contribute without having to feel shame, guilt or part with our money. We can look around our environments and especially within ourselves to see that we have so much more to give that can be of better use than one dollar. I searched out ways we can give back and ways we can support those in need - BUT most of all guys, we need to start close to home!! Enriching our environments with support, love and a strong community means we secure all these things in our future if or when something should happen. So I have included many ideas here that involve ways to support not just major disaster events, but local communities within your reach.

Ways you can help those around you without donating to campaigns or charities:

1. Donate Blood - It's one thing that can saves lives immediately in crisis situations. Especially in the example of the Las Vegas attack, those affected needed blood immediately. By donating you are ensuring these people get what they need to save their life.

2. Donate your clothing or unused sanitary items such as soap, shampoos, toothpaste, brushes, etc. There are charity or church groups who rally to collect clothing and other household items that are considered necessities for those in need. In the case of environmental disasters these items are most important. We all have those unused hotel shampoo bottles or wrapped bars of soap we can donate or a gently used shirt, socks, pants, etc. You don't need 10 pairs of shoes, maybe you have a pair of sneakers you can spare. All these things cost nothing to you, but mean a world of a difference for someone who lost everything.

3. Volunteer - Well this one is a no brainer and there are endless ways you can volunteer your time. This is a great form of Community Outreach and supporting locally. You can serve in a local retirement home, school, church, you can fix and serve meals, help coach a sports team, tutor for kids in need - the list goes on. You can always research your local community and see what needs they have and go from there.

1357630.large.jpg

Not only can you volunteer your time locally, but think about your skillset and perhaps what you do as a career - can you offer this service to an international organization? For example, if you are a web developer maybe you can help get a website up and running that will support another community in need? This is another way you can use what you do to help those in need who might be further away. We are so digitally connected now, we can impact others around the world just by finding ways to connect.

4. Host a Charity Yard Sale - Don't have money or item you can donate, well perhaps you can organize a charity yard sale? We all have things laying around that no longer serves us. So why not sell them and what sales are earned can then be donated to a local cause or disaster relief fund.

5. Get Crafty. Do you sew, knit, or have another crafty skill? There are many organizations out there that look for people like you who can support by offering your skills. I'm sure we all have left over supplies we can use to create something for someone. As an example, your local hospital might be looking for those who can knit booties for premies. And, look up sweaters for Penguins - just do it! There are local groups who support this work you can research and even supply patterns.

6. Swipe your Credit CardNot to give money, but to donate points! Research your credit card reward offerings and you will see that many, if not all, have an option to donate your points to various charity organizations. This is the same for Rewards/Loyalty Cards such as AirMiles, Aeroplan and even your local Gas points card have options to give via your points.

7. Surf, Search, and Donate. Did you know that there are search engines out there that donate for every search you perform? I didn't! Instead of using your usual search company like Google, you could try GoodSearch, which donates a penny for every search to charities and schools that users choose. This is just one option of many out there. All you have to do is your homework - search out ways to donate through search engines, games, apps, etc.

8. Get your hair cut. Several organizations such as Locks of Love and Wigs for Kids will happily take your cut hair to make hairpieces for patients who lose their hair due to medical treatment or a medical condition. You may need to wait a bit and grow your hair out before doing good; the minimum length requirement is 10 inches.

9. Become an organ donor. This one is tough for many of us and I realize that, but I have read and heard countless stories about organ donation - living and deceased - that has really removed any fear or reservations. Do your research, talk to those who have given and read the stories from families who are waiting for precious organs that will save their life or life of a loved one. As a society we should be doing more to remove any stigmas associated with organ donation and encourage it a lot more. Support the living donors so they feel safe and more apt to donate rather than afraid. Our bodies are incredibly resilient and equipped to support our fellow human - we have so much to give! Doesn't that make you feel incredible knowing you can save a life and you don't even have to be a doctor.

helping others.jpg

10. Do more research! I am sure this list could go on endlessly. So I encourage you to do your own research. Find out one way you can give back. Make it tradition in your family. Start a new trend within your group of friends. It takes a village guys and I believe we can all find ways to help that does not require us to reach into our pockets first. There is definitely a time and place where funding through dollars is more efficient, but it doesn't always have to work that way. And we don't have to walk away thinking, well I'm a big failure cause I can't even give $5. You are a hero and you can support in many ways. Find the one that works for you and know you are making a difference.

Do you have another suggestion that is not on the list? Share it with the Tribe on my Facebook page - Spirit Bear Rising.

Much love, xo

Shift Your Energy Using These Quick Tips

We are all energetic beings - made from stars, planets, and the universe. So there are times when we get stuck in a circular pattern. Do you feel like you go about life and then find yourself back at a place you thought you'd moved past from? Or do you keep going in circles? Well things are not likely going to change unless you can shift that energy. Energy is generated in our actions every single day and therefore sometimes that energy lingers.

When I do readings I can sometimes feel or see the thicker blocks of energy that has lingered in a persons life - the ex relationship that is still attached to your heart, the friendship that stabbed your back, the parent who is on your shoulders. I can see and feel it all and I will often times identify these for the sole purpose of helping someone shift out of that energy or release it.

These energies will make you feel blah or weighted and again going back into these circular patterns of feeling good then bang hit that energy block again and down you go. It sets you back, you become darker and it's hard to get through some of the more mundane aspects of life. But I have a few key tips you can do to start to effectively change your energy and transform your life.

1. Change your environment

One of the easiest things you can do to transform your energy is to make changes to your environment! Declutter your space, rearrange the furniture, get a new bed spread, have someone come in and do a space clearing and cleansing. If work is causing you the blockage you can make changes here too - choose a different commute pattern, decorate your desk different, listen to a fun audio book and maybe just for a time keep a rewarding treat in your car to enjoy on the way home OR if you commute by other means put that treat in your bag for later.

We don't realize sometimes, but these small changes create a disconnect in our brain. They start to change our learned behaviour from the old energy that is lingering. Your brain will start to rewire and dissipate the old energy lingering.

2. Change your location

If changes to the environment is not enough, you can change your location. If you feel the big urge to change places, face and jobs entirely that can be a huge energy shift, but if you feel it's too big a "to do", changing location can also mean changing your routine.

Don't drive straight home - stop at the gym, a coffee shop or friends. By physically changing your location, you open your senses up to new experiences, smells, sights and sounds. Being creatures of habit, we tend to fall into routines that keep us stuck in a cycle that feeds negative energy. By changing things up, you’re forced to create new experiences, meet new people, see new things and, most importantly, get out of your routine!

When you begin to disrupt your mindless routines, you start to open up. Opening up helps you to release old energy and attract new, positive energy.

3. Change your mindset

This is probably the most important of these three suggestions. Changing your mindset from being stuck in negative thoughts to more positive ones (whether you believe it or not) can help make a huge shift in energy. It’s about creating the space and opportunity for new ideas and growth. Growth forces us to release limiting beliefs and try out new ways of thinking, being and processing our world.

Don't allow your thoughts to stop you from trying new things or doing something you thought you couldn't. I tell people all the time, what is that one thing you've always wanted to try? Go do that! Take action towards learning a new way to view, process and work through situations.

ALL of the most transformational changes in my life can be traced back to simple mindset shifts such as positive thinking, forgiveness, compassion, trusting in the universe, listening to my intuition first and taking personal responsibility for everything that manifests in my life. Learning a new way to look at any feeling or situation will immediately transform the energy that surrounds it, and your life.

Now, try to think of an area of your life that could use an energy shift.... try these few things to take action now. You can use one or all of the above and see what happens.

If you are looking for support, empowerment, or help with shifting your energy you can also book an intuitive reading or reiki energy session. These can also be powerful tools to support everything you are already doing. Allow spiritual guidance to be a tool or resource you can use during life's various milestones. How to Harness the New Moon

I know I yammer on about Full Moon energy and what we should be doing to harness that, but there are other cycles of the moon that support our growth, development and most of all our DREAMS!

After each Full Moon we enter into a NEW MOON cycle and well what IS a New Moon?

New Moon Meaning

A new moon represents the end of one cycle and the beginning of new 28 day lunar cycle. Sun conjunct Moon gives an invigorating burst of energy and initiative. This is an excellent time for making a fresh start, turning over a new leaf or starting any new project. We can’t see a new moon in the sky because during this time, the Moon sits between the Earth and the Sun, with the sun shining on the side of the moon that we cannot see.

All possibilities are on the table as you put yourself at the center of plans for your future. Old habits, behaviors and beliefs can be questioned as you search for new and inventive ways to make progress. A new moon symbolizes new beginnings! You should use the energy of a new moon to achieve your goals or to start a new project. During a new moon, take the time to reflect back on your old goals and set yourself new ones. This magical time is the perfect opportunity to start anew.

How can you harness this energy?

New Moon Energy can be powerful. Tapping into this energy can support your dreams and desires. We can harness the energy of the new moon to fulfill our visions and make our desires come true by creating a new moon ritual.

This ritual should be a time where you can relax and light a candle or some incense. Listen to your heart and write down on paper what you truly desire in life. Do not ask for too much, keep your list simple and short with no more than 10 goals or wishes.

Be clear with your intentions, the wording of your wishes or goals is important. You must try and capture the feelings behind your wish. Remember that your wish must feel right, if it doesn’t then you should wait until another time to make that wish when it feels right.

Your wishes must not be focused on other people, you cannot change others, but you can wish and make changes to your own behaviour which will positively influence and encourage the change in another person.

Try and write your wishes down when the new moon energy is at its strongest, within the first nine hours of the new moon.

By writing everything down, you are creating a contract to yourself!

New/Full Moon Rituals You Can Start Today

FullMoon Banner.jpeg

I learned a long time ago that there was something incredible happening during each phase of the moon. I tracked my energy, my moods, what seemed to be going on around me during these times and more important, I learned how to harness this energy and use it to my advantage. There is no sense fighting it, working with the cycles and rhythms of the universe can really keep you in an abundant flow! How nice does that sound?

New moons represent fresh starts and beginnings, while full moons mark turning points, manifestations or closure. So it’s best to initiate a project or plant those seeds at a new moon, and “harvest” or make decisions at the full moon

While it might sound woo-woo, it’s not really that “out there,” if you think about it. Our ancestors planted, hunted, fished and moved by the seasons and cycles of the moon. And they survived long enough to bring us into the industrial and then the digital ages. But in our tech-driven society, it’s so easy to fall out of nature’s rhythms. So here’s how you can tune back in:

How to Create a New/Full Moon Gathering

1. Where should you do the ritual?

It's simple, let the energy guide you. You can choose to do this quietly at home, at a friends, in the kitchen, outside in your yard, on a beach, in the forest, etc etc. You will know where the right spot is just by feeling the energy and listening to your intuition.

2. Gather your tribe!

Rally your soul-seeking and self-aware friends or family, but you can always invite that soul-curious person ready to join this path of enlightenment too. You may find in your group you take turns hosting if you have a regular "moon crew", or at times you might find the energy from a particular moon is sacred and you choose to do it alone. But it's always more fun and definitely more powerful with moon buddies.

3. Gather your supplies.

This should be a comfortable, joyful experience—a time to feel good. You’ll definitely want pens and paper for guests to write down their intentions or what they’re releasing. Other things you might keep on hand could be:

  • Matches or candles to burn that which you are letting go
  • Crystals, rocks, shells or other natural artifacts
  • Sage wands (smudge sticks), oils or Palo Santo wood to burn and "Clear" the energy from the space/those in attendance
  • Divination tools - pendulums, Tarot cards, Oracle cards, etc
  • Cloth or blanket to setup your altar
  • Photos of loved ones or cherished objects that can sit on the altar with your wishes for a "moon bath"

4. Create the Atmosphere

Let the spirit of the moon guide you, but I've found it works to play soft music, serve invigorating food, light candles or a fire, and to create an ambience that helps people tune in and be more present. You might sit on floor cushions or go around in a circle and each speak on what you’d like to release/manifest (at the full moon) or begin anew (at the new moon). When weather permits, an outdoor ceremony is great so you can feel tuned into nature—and hopefully even see the full moon! After everyone has made their wishes/written down intentions, it’s great to “break” any heaviness with music or movement. Invite the energy to lead. A new moon circle could inspire a walk, angel card readings or a fun outing. Your full moon gathering could turn into a dance party, a drum circle, a spontaneous swim or who knows - it's a time for rebirth and celebrating your intent and growth. So have fun with it.

5. Put your wishes someplace sacred.

There is advice all over about what to do with your wishes - some say you should burn them to release them into the heavens, some say you should sleep with them, and others say you should keep them at your altar. Which ever feels most appropriate for you, is what you should do. I personally like to burn my wishes with those that I wish to release.

How to Set Intentions or Make Wishes

1. Write them down!

Plain and simple - putting intentions into writing can take them much further. One study even showed that people who wrote down their goals, shared them with others, and maintained accountability for their goals were 33% more likely to achieve them, versus those who just formulated those goals.

2. Share some of your wishes with your circle.

Having other's hold the space for intentions you set at each moon can add extra power. If sharing is too personal, you can get a deck of oracle cards and have each person draw one, then perhaps share a little something about what the message inspires.

3. Think in 2 week and 6 month cycles.

There is one new moon each month, followed by a Full Moon 2 weeks later. While they are not in similar zodiac signs, the energy from the new moon actually builds up over that two week period. The cycle basically goes like this:

  • New moon—set the intention & get to work.
  • Reap results or make decisions at the full moon.
  • Finish what you started for two weeks after the full moon.

After the full moon, we have what is called the "wanning" moon, wrap up those loose ends, and prepare to start something new at the next new moon! And trust me, you will always find something to start with each moon ;)

Each new moon also has a six-month astrological cycle. So you can set specific intentions at a new moon, based on the energies of that zodiac sign, and watch them unfold in the coming half-year.

" Moon of finest silver wane - take away bad luck and pain.
As you fade into the night - Bring new hope back in sight. "

5 Steps to Deciphering Your Dreams

Ever wonder what tha whaaaaaat is going on in your crazy dreams? I have, many times. Especially lately, I've been having some wild dreams. Even romantic affairs with Blue Jays MVP Josh Donaldson. Now I'm not going to complain about making out with Josh, but I still woke up thinking "What just happened, and why!?". So if you are anything like me, you'll want to follow these steps to help you Decipher the Messages in your Dreams.

STEP 1: Keep a Dream Journal

Dream Log

A dream diary (or dream journal) is a diary in which dream experiences are recorded. A dream diary might include a record of nightly dreams, personal reflections and waking dream experiences. Dreams fade quickly on awakening so you need to write them down as soon as you wake.

STEP 2: Write or Sketch Everything You Remember

Note the date of your dream and try to write down as much as you can remember, even if it's one word. You can also sketch images or symbols that stood out very clearly in your dream.

STEP 3: Write down What is Happening in your Life Right Now

What's going on? Are there any major life events happening in your present? What have you been working on or struggling with? Think of anything that comes to mind first and write that down.

STEP 4: Write a List of Topics/Symbols from your Dream

Start to see if there are themes, topics or symbols in your dream that you can pull out. So if you were swimming, water could be a symbol. Was it sunny? Write down Sun. Were you in love? Write down romance. In my case of Josh Donaldson, my topic was dreaming about famous people. All these elements will help you break down the various meanings in your dream.

STEP 5: Consult a Dream Dictionary

Now take your topics and search them in a Dream Dictionary. As you start to review the messages behind each one you will start to see they tie back to what is happening in your present. They could be messages to validate actions you want to take or not take. They could be messages of encouragement or support through the milestone or event going on.

As you do these steps each time, you support your connection with your inner self as well as spiritual advisors working with you. You will become your very own dream expert and start to connect with symbols and events and know the messages coming through for you.

You can use this Dream Dictionary online to start your search:

How I began reading Tarot

My love affair began many years ago. I can’t recall when I received my first reading, but since my early teens I’ve been getting my cards read. When I reached college a close girlfriend had a stepmom who was trained in Tarot and read our cards every summer while at the cottage. I can’t tell you how much I looked forward to those summer trips. I couldn’t get enough of the cards, their insight, their allure, mystery, and how much they were telling me. Obviously with anything, you cannot walk away setting the messages in stone. You are the sailor of your own ship, at all times, the cards simply give you empowerment to take action in the areas of your life that need attention.

Tarot Card Spread

Since I knew I was a little “different” and had a unique intuition, I always wondered could I read the cards too? Did I have a gift or ability to understand how they worked and how to retrieve the information from a tarot spread. So while on vacation one summer, I found myself on a spiritual hunt. I found the only book store around me and went inside to see if they might have a book on tarot reading. Lucky for me they did and it came with a deck of tarot cards. It wasn’t the nicest deck I had seen, but it would be a start.

I was eager to invoke the spirit of the cards and unlock all my life’s mysteries. Thinking that now I was equipped with my intuition and a deck of cards. I opened the “A complete guide to the Tarot” by Eden Gray, skimming the pages on how to set up the spread, what the cards meant, and so on. I was ready to just dive right in. I didn’t need to study anything I could just figure it out as I went. Wrong. It was horrible. My first initial tarot readings for myself really lacked the guidance I had been getting from the cards with other readers. The spread didn’t make sense, the cards didn’t seem connected, it was choppy and sloppy. I tried a few times with friends, but they didn’t appear too impressed or connected either. What was wrong, I thought? Maybe I’m just not good at this. Maybe I just don’t have the gift to do this. Feeling defeated, I put the book and cards on my bookshelf and never gave them another glance. I kept the power of the cards in the hands of the professionals. I clearly was not gifted in this area.

2 Card Spread

Or so I thought…

One day as I was “waking up“, I heard a voice in my head calling me back. Where were my cards? I frantically searched my book shelf… nope. My closet… nope. Storage!! I grabbed a couple boxes from my storage room and sure enough there they were. Phew, I thought. It had been 15 years since I bought this deck and I felt ready to see if they would speak to me now. Things in my mind were more clear. I was already pulling cards from Oracle decks and seeing astounding connections between the messages and where I was at. It would be different this time. I would dip into them not dive. Be gentle with myself, not rip the bandaid. I decided I would do my first reading up north in a cabin we had booked for a long weekend and I would do a three card spread – past, present, and future. Keep it simple, stupid was the motto.

I was astounded by the spread, message and how in sync the cards were with my life at that very moment. Could there be something going on? I thought. Was I being called to the cards? Maybe it was just a coincidence… I couldn’t be sure, but something felt different. I even did my common law partners spread and I found myself blinking at the cards thinking “shit yo, this is whaaaacckkk!”. As I read through the meanings I kept hearing things. Voices, words and phrases strung together that I normally would not just make up. Where was it coming from? It was clear and oddly confident a new kind of feeling. I took note and decided to let it marinade for awhile. Maybe it was just the setting, the spirit connection of nature and quietness. I’d have to try more readings at home and with friends to see if I got similar results.

Over time I focused on my spiritual awareness, growth, and energy work as a Reiki practitioner. However, little by little, I began incorporating the cards more and more into my life and sure enough the spirit connection between the cards, myself and those I was reading just got more intense and clear. In some cases, even passed loved ones started to play along sending messages from beyond. Now that was a real treat to marvel in and witness. Yes, even for me, because you see, I never expected anything to happen. It. Just. Did. I don’t manipulate the cards. I just interpret them and read what messages come through. So each reading for you is just as new for me and exhilarating. So I was convinced that it was now my time and I was ready to start embracing the cards as a Tool I could put in my spiritual kit for as long as it feels right.

Rider Waite

The best thing about embracing the cards and doing this work, it finally answered my question. What is it I am supposed to be doing? I have always been a healer of sorts, wanting to absorb everyones troubles and worries so they wouldn’t feel the pain. Give them hope for a better tomorrow and show them that there is light in this world of ours. The cards have become that tool I can use to break down any barrier between me and someone who is looking for answers. It’s a visual aid to show a person they have the power to change their path, that there is hope and their spirits are guiding them in the right direction. I have left more group readings RADIATING from the beautiful, golden energy that pours out through each person, than I have in any other line of work. The moment you feel the energy shift is a beautiful thing and I am SO honoured to be part of that slight shift of a moment with each person I sit down with.

I would never change my path and how I got here with the cards. I value this gift and hope I can use it to help more people. It is of no service to me if I can’t share it with you and use it to spread love and light. I will continue to share more of my experiences with the cards so be sure to check back often.

Much love, xo

Fun Facts Friday: Reiki

What you may not know about Reiki...

Our bodies are always healing themselves, but Reiki provides a conscious intention that supports the constant state of healing. It does this by heightening acceptance and awareness of the healing process. Most Eastern medicine systems know, energy is everywhere, reacting from outside and inside our bodies. Reiki can heal many physical and emotional symptoms while improving peace and well-being overall.

Fact #1 - Reiki Has Many Benefits

Reiki is a great way to eliminate stress and improve aspects of your health. It helps you heal yourself, relieve emotional and physical pain, boost your immune system, and decrease your feelings of tension and anxiety. It also develops your inner knowledge and allows you to feel more in control of your own life.

Fact #2 - Reiki Is Spiritual

Contrary to some beliefs, Reiki is not a religious practice, but a spiritual one. It's an ancient form of energetic healing from Japan, and it's an ideal way to eliminate stress and boost your overall quality of life. Unseen energy flows through all living things, and Reiki uses this to heal.

Fact #3 - The Medical Community Is Embracing Reiki

This alternative kind of healing is finding a home in many mainstream medical establishments. Many in the medical community have begun to accept Reiki. Hospitals and doctor's offices are also starting to incorporate Reiki into the therapy they offer.

Fact #4 - The Person Receiving Reiki Also Controls It

The person who channels the Reiki does not cure the person who receives the treatment. In fact, the person receiving treatment cures him or herself. This is because the person receiving the Reiki takes the amount of energy needed. This is not done through the conscious mind, but a higher self or consciousness that knows what's best. As a result, the person channeling Reiki energy does not control it and therefore cannot cause harm.

Fact #5 - Reiki Is Unlimited

Universal energy comes from a limitless source. So the person who channels Reiki is not giving away their energy, but rather allowing the universal energy to flow through them into the person receiving the treatment.

Fact #6 - Reiki Covers the Whole Body

Reiki promotes healing and has beneficial effects on the body. This includes not only physical symptoms, but also gives you relaxation, peace, and overall well-being. This is possible because a full Reiki treatment covers all organs, glands, and main energy centres of your body called Chakras. Reiki functions in harmony with other types of treatment, so you can use it along with other therapies.

Reiki is a powerful source of healing that has many benefits and uses, even along with other therapies in many medical practices today. As an unlimited form of spiritual healing energy, Reiki can improve your overall health in many ways.

Want to try a Reiki treatment? I bring the Reiki session to you in the comforts of your own home.

Tarot Tuesdays!

Welcome to Tarot Tuesdays, where I will create, post, or discuss all things relating to Tarot. Today to kick things off I wanted to share a brief history of the tarot and a little more information on the cards.

Tarot reading has been an ancient art, which many people are already familiar with. In fact, tarot readers have been around for centuries. The original tarot deck was a simple everyday pack of playing cards. Families would sit around a table pulling cards for each other as a kind of game they played. It is believed this form of use goes back to around the 14th century. By the 1500's, the Italian aristocracy was enjoying a game known as "tarocchi appropriati," in which players were dealt random cards and used thematic associations with these cards to write poetic verses about one another.

The artistry and design on the cards evolved over time and become more mystical and relevant to everyday life, and around 1909 we saw the birth of the most common used Tarot deck available - the Rider-Waite. This deck helped bring about the rise of 20th century occult tarot used by mystical readers.

A tarot reader will usually only have one dedicated pack of cards they become "linked" to. It is an extension of them and only the reader can connect with their pack of cards, which enables them to make a reading. The tarot deck consists of 78 cards - 22 major arcana cards and 56 minor arcana cards. The major arcana deal with larger life cycles, big events, major milestones that affect life path choices, stages and experiences. The minor cards deal with the more mundane aspects of our lives - the people and events along our journey and every day matters.

Anyone can buy a pack of tarot cards and many people throughout history have attempted to conduct tarot readings themselves. However, it is not just about the pack of cards, but the gift that the tarot reader possesses, they must have extra sensory abilities and unique powers to connect with the past, present and future of the person having the reading. But with all things, keeping an open mind as well as practice can support your journey with the cards. You must be tuned into your intuition so that you can clearly decipher the messages coming though in the cards.

I hope that has been most helpful, there is so much more out there on the cards and I encourage you to explore. I look forward to sharing more in the coming weeks. Each Tuesday we will cover new topics, conduct interactive card readings, do some LIVE events on Facebook and so much more. If you have ideas or topics you would like to share please feel free. I would love to hear about your experiences and journey.

Much love, xo

Feeling SO Blessed

I wanted to write an open letter to everyone who joined me, supported me, and just came out to the Hamilton Wholistic Wellness Expo on April 1st. It was an incredible day. I initially set such high expectations for myself, but as we got closer I allowed myself to release those and just have fun. And that is exactly what I did! I didn't know what to expect, but I said to myself "Delia, just have fun, enjoy the energy, learn new things, and then see what happens". Well what happened was non-stop readings for some exceptional souls.

During our last months Full Moon, I asked for soulful connections and partnerships and I couldn't have felt that more than yesterday. The people I connected with felt like my soul sisters and soul brothers. People I was truly meant to meet, connect with and learn from. The stories I hear are all so tremendous. Heartache, love, journey, dreams and aspiring paths. It fills my heart so much to connect and hopefully support their journey. It's NEVER about me. The only ego I put on myself is wanting to be the best, better, the greatest.... for YOU.

Me, at my booth!

Me, at my booth!

I also have a list of exceptionally talented practitioners I now have to connect with because they are SOOOOO COOL! How many people did you visit and go, wow, how cool are they?! ha ha ha I am more start struck by meeting a clairvoyant then Johnny Depp :P I found a new Salt Cave location, which as you know we do events in the cave which are so amazing, there is this incredible Messenger of Mother woman who I just want 5 mins in her presence and I'll be good ha ha ha but overall some really gifted and amazing people. All who want nothing more then to help you on your path, spread their light and love and be beacons in a world that needs more light right now!

To see a list of practitioners who can support you on your spiritual journey you can visit the Wellness Expo website here - http://www.wholisticwellnesscommunities.com/hamilton/practitioners.htm All practitioners who were present yesterday will be listed on this page for a year.

Much love, and Happy April!!

Being the High Priestess

What did I get myself into?! I ask this each night as I am toiling away with some piece of jewellery or sign into the wee hours of the night getting ready for the Hamilton Wholistic Wellness Expo. Perhaps I am putting too much pressure on myself? And true to my nature, I do want things to be perfect! I do want to have an inviting table for people to approach. And I do want to leave a lasting impression.

In a world where we are inundated by so much and so many things, it truly is more difficult to stand out. How am I different from the rest? I ask myself this all the time. I once got the card "High Priestess", which let my ego squeal out in satisfaction, but as I truly sat down to contemplate this meaning, this title, it began to be so clear. I am the start of your journey, potentially your middle, and perhaps your end. The High Priestess grants you clarity, inner knowing and ancient wisdom. She holds her book of secrets so close for fear of letting it all out could be too much for those around her. You ask a question and she will answer using all the powers at hand, all the infinite wisdom, all the divine tools available in order to support, empower, provide, and grant that which you desire most. A clear knowing of what's next. This is not a job to be taken lightly, I take it very seriously.

So naturally being a healer, I want people to know I am here to help! I am here for your journey, ready to tap into those around us for their divine help. Ready to pass on my knowledge and my experiences so that you too can benefit and learn. It's not an easy thing to do, but I believe it is my journey, my path and while I want things to happen so quickly, I know in divine timing things will be as they are meant to be. It's a beautiful thing to accept and allow things to flow. I am at peace with all that I do. I harm none! And most important I cannot harm myself.

So after hours of toiling and late nights, I've declared April to be a month of PLAY, LAUGHING, JOY, and ZERO work. I will not be taking bookings or making products. I am simply going to be still. I will surely accept bookings for May, but need to tend my Spring garden first before anything new can take place. This feels good, this feels authentic, and I hope everyone finds it within themselves to also take time for you. Our self love and care is so important! We cannot serve our highest good if we don't care for it first :)

Be love, make love, do love, anything now or when you are ready, to ensure you are putting your best self forward and first.

Much love, xo

Welcome my beloved

Have you ever walked into an empty room and felt a presence? Have you ever asked a question and received an answer you wouldn’t respond with yourself? Have you heard a voice or something you couldn’t explain? If you have then you know exactly what I’m talking about. Those whispers and feelings that cannot be described easily without sounding odd, but are too real to ignore.

As far back as I can recall, I’ve always had a special gift of intuition, reading energies, feeling energies, and very much an empath. All of which really heightened by abilities to pick up on things that were not of this world. I naturally sought out people to help me navigate my instinctive abilities and validate everything I already knew. I completely lacked the confidence to come out and say I too had a gift to hear and feel those around us. I didn’t need other people to validate who I was, I needed myself to do that.

Tarot Angel Card

Early 2016, I had a pivotal awakening, which forced me to look inward. Who do I really want to be and what purpose do I serve? I always knew I had a unique connection to spirit and the ability to listen for their messages. So naturally during this time, I gravitated to all things to help me decipher the messages and the tarot was one such tool. During my late teens and early 20’s, I picked up a book on reading tarot and my first deck. From then on my fascination and passion for the cards grew into a decade of wonderment. Always seeking them out and navigating their messages. Never truly reading for others, until now.

While the cards may seem like a small offering, their messages can sometimes be profound. Through readings I have been able to empower people to take action, offer guidance and insight into ones life and personal journey. They offer possibilities and validation the querent may already know OR just need that extra push to believe they are on the right path. The energy noticeably shifts and together we awaken through the cards and in those moments the querent finds their purpose, I find my purpose, and in those moments of intuitive spirit connections we find meaning in the journey.

I love that I can offer this gift. Please join me on my journey and the people I meet along the way. I am always here for you, beloved and welcome you to reach out at any time if you wish to discuss tarot or request a reading.

I assure you, you will not be disappointed.
